Turkey will never put Azerbaijan into danger, Turkish Ambassador to U.S., Nabi Shensoy told Trend News. Speaking of the meeting determined the normalization of relations between his country and Armenia in Zurich, the ambassador stressed that Ankara will try to term this plan not against Azerbaijan, but for its benefits.
Turkey and Armenia will sign a protocol on normalization of the relations in the Swiss city of Zurich on Oct. 10. “We do understand sensitivity of Azerbaijan. But we promised Azerbaijan and we will never take a step against our closest ally,” said the ambassador.
According to the Turkish diplomat, Ankara’s aim is to bring peace to South Caucasus. “The events of the recent years added new problems to the frozen conflicts in South Caucasus. Turkey wants to create stability in the region. One of our main interests is our brother Azerbaijan,” the ambassador added.
The Turkish diplomat also pointed out the importance of the fact that both the Minsk Process and the Turkey-Armenia normalization are happening at the same time.
“Even if these processes are not connected, they complete each other. Both processes must be solved soon and they will influence each other not negatively, but positively,” said Shensoy.
