A candidate who has received less than 3% of votes will have to give back 28 800 manats allocated by State for the election campaign. Otherwise according to the Legislation Central Election Commission must take the candidates into court said the head of CEC Press Service Azer Sariev.
According to the initial results of the elections only the leader of New Azerbaijan Party Ilham Aliev has passed 3% barrier. A. Sariev stated that there were no serious differences between the results announced by CEC and the official results: “The initial information given by polling stations are based on reports and are sent to the center. The indicators of the candidates received votes given on web site www.infocenter.gov.az are the initial results and are based on the information given by e-mails and phone calls”.
According to the law after the official results are announced the candidates will have to give back all the resources. According to A.Sariev if the candidate who has received less than 3% of votes is not able to return the money he has to inform CEC about this: “They have to take responsibility in front of CEC in written form that they will give the founding back in 12 months”. A. Sariev stated that the candidates have to present the result financial reports to CEC. He also added that the candidates who have passed 3% barrier have to return the finding which hasn’t been used.
