Supreme Court of Azerbaijan held its regular Plenum on Tuesday. Chairman of the Supreme Court Ramiz Rzayev talked about the implemented measures and duties ahead for the improvement and modernization of the court system in accordance with the decrees and orders issued by President Ilham Aliyev, press service of the Supreme Court told APA.
Then Plenum discussed the experience of implementation of the pre-trail restriction of defendants. Judge of the Supreme Court Muzaffer Aghazadeh reported about this issue. Then the court discussed the issue and passed an advisory decision about the implementation of legislation by the courts during the pre-trial restriction of defendants.
The second issue discussed by the Plenum was about the activity of the Court of Grave Crimes in 2008. Reports of the chairman of the Court of Grave Crimes Mahmud Nabiyev and Judge of the Supreme Court Shahin Yusifov were heard. The Plenum discussed the experience of conviction of the defendants, changing or annulling of court decisions by the high-instance courts. Some problems in the activity of the Court of Grave Crimes were noted alongside with its positive experience.
The Plenum reviewed concrete civil cases and passed relevant decisions about the discussed issues and civil cases. Chairman of the Legal-Justice Council, Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov, chief of the law-enforcement affairs department of the Presidential Administration Fuad Alasgarov attended the Pelnum.
