The elections were very peaceful and stable and well organized. The additions made to the Election Code created fairer conditions for the oppositional candidates”. This is a statement of the head of Foreign Politics Department of European Union Javier Solana. According to the information given by “Azadliq” radio in the statement it is said that Azerbaijan has to take several necessary measures in order to meet all international commitments. According to the statement these steps have to be taken in campaigning of political pluralism, in creating fair election environment and more free press, in conducting free and open election debates and in transparent accounting of votes.
J. Solana stated that in the future European Union is ready to support democratic institutions in Azerbaijan and cooperate with Azerbaijan within the European Neighborhood Policy.
