Matthew Bryza, America Co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group, said in his exclusive with ANS.
“Regulation of Daqliq Qarabaq conflict is close to resolve. Mutual understanding and confidence between Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents enable to say so,” Matthew Bryza, America Co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group, said in his exclusive with ANS before leaving Baku on March 26. Before Azerbaijan, Bryza visited Armenia and Georgia. During his one-day visit, Matthew Bryza had a meeting with Azerbaijani FA Minister Elmar Mammadyarov where the sides discussed recent developments in regulation process of Daqliq Qarabaq process, as well as preparation issues to meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents scheduled for May, 2009 in Prague, Czech Republic.
After his meetings, Bryza considers that the sides are too close to come to a common conclusion.
“Washington thinks that process of regulation of Daqliq Qarabaq conflict should be held in parallel with normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations. As co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group we made proposals basing on Madrid principles. I think we have achieved certain progress in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations,” said Bryza.
American co-chair says there is mutual respect between the presidents besides understanding and confidence.
“As co-chairs, our duty is to develop these features and reach progressive continuation of peaceful talks. We witnessed positive aspects during the meeting of the presidents in Zurich on January 28. There was no gap. The presidents have strengthened level of confidence and I hope this tendency will continue at next meeting planned for May. As co-chairs, we must prepare the sides to fulfill their commitments. I feel it is possible, as I witness mutual respect and believe between them,” added Bryza. /ANS TV/
