OSCE Minsk Group hopes to continue working in the frame of Madrid principles

The American co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group hopes to go on working on the basis of Madrid principles with his colleagues. It was notified by the web site “Novosti Armeniya.” “The regulation of the Karabakh conflict cannot be organized without taking the thought of the Nagorno Karabakh population into consideration”, – the American co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group Robert Bradtke told journalists on Friday.

“I think when I look back and around me during my future visits, I will have the occasion to see a number of things”- Bradtke said.

The conflict between the two countries of the South Caucasus began in 1988 due to Armenian territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Since 1992, Armenian Armed Forces have occupied 20% of Azerbaijan including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and its seven surrounding districts. In 1994, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement. The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France, and the US are currently holding peaceful negotiations without any result.
