Barak Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father was from Kenya and his mother Ann Dunham was an American born in Kansas. Obama’s parents separated when he was 2 years old. After his mother got married with a person of Indonesian origin and Obama lived in Jakarta till he was 10 years old. He had 8 step-sisters and step-brothers. In 1979 he returned to the city he was born and started to live with his grandmother and grandfather. He finished Punahou School. In the memoirs issued in 1995As Obama admitted that during high school he used marijuana and cocaine.

Following the high school he went to Occidental College in Los Angeles and then continued his education in Columbia University. He graduated from the university in 1983. In 1988 he studied in Harvard Law School. In 1993 Obama started to teach constitutional law in Chicago University.

In 1995 he wrote the book “Dreams from my father”. The book brought him great success. In 1996 he won the elections for the senate in Illinois. He became Senate member in Illinois in 1996-2004.

He criticizes George Bush’s intervention to Iraq.
He nominated himself from Democrat Party for the presidential elections to be held in U.S.A. on February 2007. In the presidential elections held on November 4 2008 he prevailed over his opponent John McCain and became the 44th president of the U.S.A. He is married and has two daughters Sasha and Malia.
