Prior to the municipal elections in Azerbaijan, free airtime and print space will be allocated in the media for the election propaganda.

“For the purpose of pre-election campaign, prior to municipal elections, free airtime and print space will be allocated in the media for political parties or blocs to which they belong, and candidates who were registered in more than half of the municipalities in the in Public Television and radio, newspapers of “Azerbaijan”, “Khalg qazeti”, “Respublika”,” the press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) told Trend News on Oct. 22.

Municipal elections in Azerbaijan will be held on December 23. 15,682 members are envisaged to be elected for 1,718 municipalities. Municipal elections were held twice – in 1999 and 2004.
