Today, the Baku 2015 First European Games is the most topical issue that is of interest to the Azerbaijani society, the Azerbaijani president’s aide for public and political affairs, Ali Hasanov, said May 15.
He made the remarks at a meeting between the Azerbaijani government and opposition.
Hasanov said all the sides – both the authorities and other political parties are an integral part of Azerbaijan.
“If the developments in the Azerbaijani society acquire national significance, of course, a need arises for a meeting between the government and the opposition,” he said.
Hasanov added that the Azerbaijani government has received proposals from political parties.
“We in the administration looked into those proposals. We discussed which of them we will put on the agenda of today’s meeting between the government and the opposition,” he said. “I can in fact say that no serious proposal, which could be of interest to all and become relevant for the Azerbaijani society, has been received.”
Hasanov added that the only serious proposal came from the ‘Azadlig-2015’ bloc.
“That was a generalized proposal related to electoral reforms and the participation of political parties in the upcoming elections in Azerbaijan,” said Hasanov.
He noted that the most topical issue that is of interest to the Azerbaijani society today is the First European Games in Baku, the attitude towards them within the country and beyond.
“We believe the political institutions of society also shouldn’t be left outside the discussions on this issue,” said Hasanov.
