On May 21, President of the European Council Donald Tusk made a telephone call to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Tusk extended his condolences to the head of state and the people of Azerbaijan over loss of life in a fire in an apartment block in Baku.
The president of the Republic of Azerbaijan thanked for the condolences and attention.
During the phone conversation, Azerbaijani-European Union ties were discussed. The parties noted the strengthening of these relations, which were built on solid foundations, in political, economic, energy, transportation and other areas.

The head of state invited Donald Tusk to pay an official visit to the country.
