Erdogan’s party to win at the elections

Votes for AKP decreased 7%. The results of municipality elections held on March 29 in Turkey haven’t been declared yet.
Most of the bulletins have already been counted, Lent.az informs.

According to the initial results the ruling party AKP (Justice and Development Party) won at the elections. It is known that the party has gained 39% of votes. The second party is the main opposition party CHP (Democratic Society Party).

In the capital Ankara and the biggest city Istanbul the candidates of AKP were elected as the heads of the municipality. Melih Gokhchek won his opponent Murad Garayalchin and became the head of municipality of the capital for the fourth time.

In Istanbul the candidate of AKP and current head of municipality Kadir Topbash left behind Kamal Gilincdaroglu who had submitted serious documents on corruption facts by the officials and gained the right to rule Istanbul again.
The situation hasn’t changed in Izmir, CHP candidate won.

The most interesting result of voting was that MHP (Nationalist Movement Party) couldn’t win in Igdir where most Azeris live. DTP candidate who has close relations with PKK terror organization became the head of municipality of Igdir.
In compare with the previous elections votes for AKP decreased (approximately 5-7%) and AKP lost in Ankara, Adana, Van, Manisa and the other big cities.

It should be noted that several armed collisions happened during the elections. 12 people were dead and more than 100 people were injured. 3 of the killed people were candidates.
