The discussion of the resolution project “The situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan” (number 18 on UN GA’s preliminary agenda) at the United Nations’ General Assembly was postponed, Trend News’s Washington DC correspondent was told at the UN Information Center.
The “The situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan” resolution was scheduled to be discussed on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009, but was postponed. The UN Information office says they can’t exactly explain the reasons of the postponing, “but it is very possible that this decision is connected with the negotiation process”.
Trend News correspondent was told, that on the very same day – December 3rd – another resolution project “Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development” was to be discussed, but was postponed as well.
The UN Information office says another date for discussion of these issues will be announced, but doesn’t specify when. They don’t exclude that both resolution projects can be left for 65th UN General Assembly session. “It depends on member countries”, says the UN Information office.
