Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov said as early as 2009, 100 young people from 40 countries gathered in Istanbul, Turkey for the UN Alliance of Civilizations’ youth event. Minister said the congress would help the youth organizations to extend their activities. The issues of mobilization and strengthening of youth organizations, as well as networking of the youth’s activity, participation in all sectors of the UN Alliance of Civilizations will be discussed at the congress.

Rahimov said the concept of the Global Youth Movement was based on the Alliance of Civilizations and developed by the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation.

Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Director General of ISESCO said that UN declared 2010 a Year of Youth. A number of projects were carried out within this event. “Today’s event in Baku also can be considered as one of these projects. I am happy that the government of Azerbaijan supported this project”.
