A resident of Baku city made a complaint to Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova. The complaint said that on Oct. 26, 2009, while detention of the complainer’s car by the transport inspectors, despite his stating that the car belongs to an enterprise and has a road list, the inspectors required money and attempted to remove the state number sign of the car. And only intervention of the enterprise’s employees who were in the car kept the inspectors from this attempt, the press service of the Ombudsman Office told Trend News.
The complainer said that he was not satisfied with the response letter received from the Car Transport Service Department with regards to the appeal and that concrete measures were not taken. He asked the Ombudsman to assist in investigating and resolving this issue and making the inspectors answerable. Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova made a relevant assignment to the Transport Ministry to study the circumstances and conduct an investigation regarding the appeal and take appropriate measures.
Evidences were taken from the inspectors – participants of the incident, and their rough behavior was revealed. Two inspectors who made violations in their activities were dismissed. After Ombudsman’s intervention, the violated rights of the complainer were restored.
