Azerbaijan expects the best results from figure skating at the XXII Olympic Winter Games to be held in Sochi, Russia, vice president of Azerbaijani National Olympic Committee (NOC), Chingiz Huseynzade told Trend on Feb. 4.

He said the Azerbaijani sportsmen are already in Sochi and preparing for the competitions.

“It is a sport in which it is impossible to predict anything in advance. We will try for the athletes to be among the 12 best,” Huseynzade said.

The NOC vice president went on to add that the Sochi Olympics will positively affect the development of winter sports in Azerbaijan.

At the Sochi Olympics Azerbaijan will be represented with four athletes competing in two kinds of sports – skiing and figure skating.
