Azerbaijan regrets over the recent incident between Russia and Turkey, Bahar Muradova, Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, told reporters Nov. 30.
Muradova was commenting on the current relations between Russia and Turkey.
Azerbaijan is extremely concerned about the current processes between two countries.
“I hope that the leadership and people of Turkey and Russia will not allow confrontation, which can lead to a great disaster,” she said. “I also hope that the conflict will soon be resolved.”
She said that Azerbaijan and Russia have good relations, based on a strategic partnership.
“Turkey is our close fraternal country,” she said. “We can not remain indifferent to the tension in the relations between the two countries, which causes our concern. Azerbaijan tries to use all available means to preserve friendly relations between the two countries. So, first I would advise all politicians to refrain from making statements to the press and the public, which will aggravate the relations.”
Russia-Turkey relations deteriorated after the incident with the Russian Su-24 warplane, shot down by the Turkish Air Force Nov. 24.
