“Ago” Monitoring Group of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers has arrived in Azerbaijan today. APA reports that, the aim of the visit is to assess Azerbaijan’s progress in fulfilling the commitments vis-à-vis the Council of Europe.
Members of the “Ago” Group are expected to meet with President Ilham Aliyev, Speaker of the Parliament Ogtay Asadov, leadership of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Supreme Court, Central Election Commission, leading opposition parties, nongovernmental organizations, media outlets.
The Group members also plan to meet with the ambassadors of the Council of Europe member states to Azerbaijan.
Note that the Ago Monitoring Group’s visit to the region has begun since November 20. CoE Ago Monitoring Group is led by Stelian Stoyan, permanent representative of Romania in the Council of Europe.
