Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says he intends to make a trip to Iran.
“Regular meetings are taking place between the foreign ministers [of Russia and Iran],” RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov as saying Aug. 17 after talks with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Moscow.
“Mr. Minister [Zarif] confirmed the invitation to visit Tehran, which I will with pleasure take advantage of in the timeframe agreed by the parties,” Lavrov further said.
He also noted that the next meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission of Russia and Iran for trade and economic cooperation would take place in autumn.
“We have paid a special attention to developing trade and economic ties,” said Lavrov. “We have agreed to hold the next meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation in autumn this year, perhaps in October.”
“This is an important instrument both in Iran’s and Russia’s opinion that helps to coordinate our common approaches in deepening the economic, investment and other ties,” the Russian FM added.
