Ukraine hopes that Armenia will not take direct flights from the territory of Crimea, Director of Information Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebiynis told the first information channel of Armenia, commenting on a direct flight from Simferopol to Yerevan, carried out Nov.16 by the Grozny Avia airline.
Commenting on the flight, he said that by the decision of the government of Ukraine all airports of Crimea, which form a part of Ukraine, were closed for air traffic, including the airport of Simferopol. Consequently, any flight, which will be implemented from the Crimean airports, in particular from Simferopol airport, is illegitimate, and the company that carries out such a flight, first of all, is breaking the law, and secondly, is subject to sanctions imposed by the ICAO, he said.
“In any case, we hope that all our partners will remain committed to the fact that Crimea is the territory of Ukraine, remain committed to the fact that flights, carried out by illegitimate authorities, may not be legitimate and will not take direct flights from the territory of Crimea annexed by Russia,” said Perebiynis.
On November 16, the Grozny Avia airline started regular flights from Simferopol to Yerevan, the first flight took off from the Simferopol airport in the morning.
“This is the second international air route from Simferopol, opened after the reunification of the Crimea with Russia, and the first route, tickets on which can be bought in the online booking systems,” Interfax news agency cites the representative of the separatist authorities of Crimea Anatoly Tsurkin.
