Elmar Mammadyarov gave detailed information about political, economic, social situation, democratic reforms carried out in Azerbaijan, political stability, economic development in the country, activity of the Azerbaijani parliament, Azerbaijan-Serbia interparliamentary friendship group, meetings he held in Serbia. Slavica Djukic Dejanovic said despite the existence of friendship and cooperation relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan, there is a great potential to enhance relations in other spheres, including interparliamentary relations. She underlined that Serbia supports Azerbaijan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and our country’s just position on Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict. She also expressed her gratitude to Azerbaijani leadership for supporting Serbia in Kosovo issue.
Elmar Mammadyarov said the unfair position and double standard policy of the international community concerning both Nagorno Karabakh and Kosovo problem cause regret. Minister said demonstration of similar positions by Azerbaijan and Serbia concerning the issues of mutual interest can be beneficial for both countries.
Elmar Mammadyarov met with Prime Minister of Serbia Mirko Cvetkovic. Prime Minister said his country signed agreements with Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus and Turkey on free trade, added that they wish to have such a cooperation and sign document with Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister also met with First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić. Ivica Dačić said Serbia wants to sign agreements with Azerbaijan on visa free travel and elimination of emergency situations. The sides exchanged views on the international security in the globalizing world, struggle against terrorism, organized crimes.
Elmar Mammadyarov met with Rasim Ljajić, one of the leaders of Serbia’s Muslim community, chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Serbia, representative of Sandžak region in the parliament, Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Affairs of Serbia. Serbian Minister said his country is interested in the expansion of the relations with Azerbaijan in energy, improvement of labor conditions, relations in tourism, culture, offered to sign agreements on cooperation in these spheres.
Elmar Mammadyarov visited the mausoleum of the former Yugoslavian leader Josip Broz Tito.
Minister also visited Azerbaijani embassy in Serbia, met with the embassy staff, representatives of Azerbaijani Diaspora in Serbia, representatives of Azerbaijani Culture Center in Belgrade and Serbia-Azerbaijan Chamber of Economy and Commerce. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister ended his two-day visit to Serbia.
