The next round of negotiations on delimitation of Azerbaijan-Georgia borders will be held in Tbilisi, said Chairman of the State Land and Mapping Committee Garib Mammadov. He said scheduling the meeting depended on Tbilisi. “When our Georgian colleagues, diplomatic channels invite us, we will go to Tbilisi”.

Mammadov said Azerbaijan and Georgia had borders with 480 km length. 300 km was coordinated, but 180 km is still negotiated. “The experts are working on it now. There are some results”.

Mammadov expressed his reaction to the Georgia’s proposal to exchange Keshikchi Mounatin with any territory of that country: “The borders can not be delimited depending location of any mosque or church. These are not border subjects. We have a working map. We lived so more than 70 years during the USSR. Every ally republic of the USSR had own borders. It was described in the working map. We are living so today as well. We simply are negotiating and coordinating this map with the independent countries. The country’s president issued a decree on this issue few years ago. The Keshikchi Mountain church is the historic monument of Azerbaijan and it is in the balance of Azerbaijan. If anyone, Georgians or others, want to visit the monument, they can do it. We don’t oppose”.
