The delegation of Ombudsman has investigated the detention centers and pre-trial prisons of police departments in western regions of Azerbaijan. According to the information that APA was supplied by press service of Ombudsman, the employees of the institution and the representatives of Gandja Regional Centre under Ombudsman have checked the situation in police departments in Shamkir and Tovuz districts, and they have met with suspects and culprits on a commission from the Commissioner on Human Rights- Elmira Suleymanova.
While talking to these people, their rights and as well as the regulations of the Constitutional Law about Ombudsman were explained. The representatives got acquainted with the condition in the institutions and with the documents which assert the legality of detention. The people with whom the representatives talked were satisfied with the condition of detention and the treatment of the authorities and the functionaries.
The representatives of Ombudsman have also been in the pre-trial prison number 2 in Gadja under the penitentiary service of the Ministry of Justice. The appeals of the detainees were investigated on the spot. The authorities of the investigated institutions were recommended to further develop the codition of detention.
