Secretary General of NATO Yaap de Hoop Scheffer spread the declaration on the results of the presidential elections conducted on October 15 in Azerbaijan. According to the information given by “Turan” the Secretary General of NATO stated in his declaration: “I welcome progressive aspects of the presidential elections conducted in Azerbaijan on October 15, 2008 which were shown in the statements of OCSE, European Union and the international observers of European Parliament. Azerbaijan has to use these successes and overcome the mentioned shortcomings. Azerbaijan is long-term and valuable supporter of NATO and we are waiting for the dialog, practical cooperation and our support for the reforms to be continued and strengthened.
