Azerbaijan simplifies visa system for Israeli diplomatic and service passport holders

The Azerbaijani Milli Mejlis (parliament) has approved a document on Feb.3 enabling the simplification of the visa system between Israel and Azerbaijan for the holders of diplomatic and service documents.

The issue about the ratification of the agreement on simplification of the visa regime between Azerbaijan and Israel for the holders of diplomatic and service passports was discussed at the parliament’s meeting.

Speaking about the document, Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and Inter-parliamentary Relations of Milli Majlis Samad Seyidov stressed that citizens holding diplomatic and service passports are exempt from visa requirements for visits both transit and travelling under terms not exceeding 90 days. Permission to extend the visa is necessary for long term travel.

Israel demonstrated its position supporting Azerbaijan in the issue of settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, according to Seyidov.

“Relations between Azerbaijan and Israel are developing at a high level. This agreement will expand these ties even more,” the parliamentary committee head added.

The agreement was approved by the parliament at the end of the discussions.

Additionally, the agreement on the abolition of a visa system between Azerbaijan and Peru for the holders of diplomatic, service and special passports was ratified at the parliament’s meeting.

The committee head pointed out that holders of these passports will be able to pay mutual visits without a visa and to stay in the host country for a period not exceeding 90 days.
